The following are quite specific scenarios that I've come across during usage of various Unix-family systems, though some may contain rather general tips that may apply to Windows or other operating systems as well, so check the respective pages for more information. These are targeted for users with advanced skills, and any application of suggestions here is at your own risk. There, I said it. :-)
